KOVEN4TET is a quartet of four improvising women transcending cultures and temporal boundaries to create immersive experiences of memory unfolding through a contemporary language. Alicia Byer (clarinet/bassoon), Kozue Matsumoto (koto), gamin (traditional Korean winds: piri, saenghwang), and Carole Kim (sound objects) straddle free improvisation, visual art, and movement to traverse boundaries both explicit and unspoken.
